As you can see from the clinic name, my name is David. Since the age of 13 years old I have been a chiropractic patient. I did not have any symptoms but met my first Chiropractor due to my older brother receiving treatment for sports related injuries. This was when my interest in the philosophy of chiropractic care started.
At the age of 20 I enrolled at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth where I completed a five year Master degree in Chiropractic.
In 2009 I graduated from the AECC and have been in private practice ever since.
Now with over 16 years of clinical experience and with a young family, I've decided to open a state of the art clinic close to home.
My underlying objective when assessing any patient is to investigate the route cause of any neuro-musculoskeletal issues they have. Not just rely on the symptoms someone may or may not have.
The promotion of health and function is key for everyone, any age, any time. Our spine has evolved to house the spinal cord and is its primary protector. The spinal cord is an extension of our brain and the brain relies on the nerves that exit the spine to send and receive accurate messages in order to heal, move, feel and function. The holes in the spine where the nerves exit are a very specific size and shape for these nerves, therefore any change in the alignment of the spine may result in an interruption of the signals between the brain and the body, this in turn is what often causes symptoms such as pain, headaches, sensation or movement issues or disfunction.
My primary objective with every patient is to help enable them to have a healthy spine in order to optimise their own health and live the life they want to lead.
Age is not a barrier, I see new born babies through to people in their nineties.
I look forward to meeting you in our clinic and helping you reach your own health goals.
An indepth discussion about what brought you to the clinic. We will talk about any health concerns you have, location of symptoms and/or pain. How this affects your daily life, hobbies, interests or sleep. We will talk about any past traumas or events that your body has been through as well as how your occupation or hobbies have affected you.
A physical examination is designed to help me understand more about your spine or any affected nerves, muscles or joints. This can include neuro-musculoskeletal tests that give further information about the cause of any dysfuntion or symptoms you are experiences.
Here we look to get an objective understanding of how your body is behaving. Common areas to look at are your posture, bi-lateral balance (how is your body distrubing it's weight), range of motion testing as well as grip strength.
Objectifying criteria such as these also gives me the ability to retest further down the line to assess how your body is improving if indeed you are suitable for chiropractic care.
Housed in our clinic is an X-Ray facility that allows us to use imaging to further assess the spine. In cases that X-Rays are required I will discuss the reasoning and justification for this. X-Rays can be taken on the same day as your appointment and do not require referral.
With many cases the complexity and diagnosis of the underlying cause of pain needs investigating. In order to be thorough and to help you understand what is happening in your body, a follow-up report is scheduled. I will always aim to make this appointment within 72 hours of your first visit.
After the consultation process I will have a much clearer impression of what is the likely underlying cause of your complaint. If the cause is indeed an issue that a chiropractor can assist with then treatment can start following the report of my findings. Common symptoms that a chiropractor can help with are headaches / migraines, neck pain, back pain, sciatica, slipped disc, poor posture and sensation changes in the arms or legs.
